008: Kicking off the BEAMER project

On December 16, 2020, the BEAMER project officially kicked off to find a new and effective way to resolve the longstanding and costly issue of non-adherence to treatment. Different from earlier initiatives and existing solutions to improve adherence to treatment, this project will focus on delivering a human behavioral based model based on for patients and healthcare professionals actionable factors that influence adherence behavior. This model can be used as the foundation for future real-world solutions to deliver adherence improving patient support.

BEAMER is an initiative of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) and the European Union (EU) through their public-private partnership (PPP) Innovative Health/Medicines Initiative (IHI/IMI).

Together with EFPIA members Astellas Pharma, Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Merck KGaA, Novo Nordisk, Pfizer, Servier, and Takeda, Simon Klaasen and Aad Liefveld had been involved in drafting the call for proposal that led to the selection of the consortium involved in this initiative. As IMI2 associated partner for the BEAMER project, Link2Trials has committed to invest in BEAMER and through the active involvement of Simon and Aad share their knowledge and expertise in the field of personalized patient support to enhance adherence during clinical trials with the BEAMER project team.

As per January 1, 2026, PACE Clinical will continue and extend Link2Trials’ commitment to, and investment in BEAMER.
